What is the Shahadah?

The Shahadah is the Islamic declaration of faith and consists of two simple yet profound statements:

  • “Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah” – “I testify that there is no god but Allah.”
  • “Ashhadu anna Muhammadur rasulullah” – “I testify that Muhammad (PBUH) is the messenger of Allah.”

By saying these words with sincere belief, a person enters into the fold of Islam, acknowledging the oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH). It is the most profound and beautiful declaration, representing a commitment to worship Allah alone and follow the teachings of His final messenger.

ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ ۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ ٱللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ ٱلْقُلُوبُ (٢٨)

Allah said: “those who believe and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of Allah. Surely in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find comfort.” – Ar-Ra’d: 28 (13-28)

New Shahadah Classes

Join us every Sunday at 11:00 in the masjid for classes.

Shahadah Services Offered:

At Masjid Ahlis Sunnah, we provide a range of services to guide and assist individuals through the Shahadah process:

  1. Shahadah Ceremony:
    • Our Imam or any Muslim in the community would have you accept Islam through saying the shahadah.
    • You will receive a new shahadah certificate after converting.
  2. Guidance and Support:
    • We provide educational resources to help you understand the core principles of Islam, from prayer (Salah) and fasting (Sawm) to charity (Zakat) and pilgrimage (Hajj).
  3. New Muslim Orientation:
    • Our New Muslim Orientation program is designed to help you feel comfortable and confident in your new faith. We offer classes on basic Islamic beliefs, practices, and etiquettes to help you transition smoothly into your new life as a Muslim.
    • In addition, our community is here to support you socially and spiritually, providing a network of brothers and sisters to connect with and grow alongside.
  4. Welcome Pack for New Muslims:
    • Every new Muslim who takes the Shahadah will receive a welcome pack that includes essential Islamic literature, such as a Quran, prayer guide, and other helpful materials. This pack is designed to aid in the transition and provide essential tools for spiritual growth.
