Aqeeqah Services at Masjid Ahlis Sunnah
At Masjid Ahlis Sunnah, we consider it a great honor and privilege to assist families in carrying out the blessed tradition of Aqeeqah for their newborns. Aqeeqah is a deeply significant practice in Islam, symbolizing gratitude to Allah (ﷻ) for the precious gift of a child. It is a beautiful expression of thanks and joy, as well as an act of devotion, as parents seek to protect and bless their newborn by following the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
In Islam, the birth of a child is regarded as a special and sacred occasion. The Aqeeqah is performed as a way of celebrating this gift, seeking blessings for the child, and asking Allah to grant the child protection, guidance, and success in both this life and the hereafter. It is a fundamental tradition in Islam that expresses a parent’s gratitude and submission to the will of Allah (ﷻ).
The act of sacrificing an animal, usually a sheep or goat, is done in the name of Allah (ﷻ), and the meat is then distributed according to the Sunnah. One-third is given to the poor and needy, one-third to friends and family, and the remaining third is kept for the family. This distribution reflects the importance of sharing joy and blessings with those around you, especially with those less fortunate. The Aqeeqah also serves as a means of purifying the newborn and safeguarding them from harm, while also bringing the family closer to Allah (ﷻ).
Understanding the significance of Aqeeqah, we at Masjid Ahlis Sunnah are committed to offering comprehensive Aqeeqah services that make this important ritual as smooth and meaningful as possible. Our goal is to ensure that the Aqeeqah is performed correctly, following the Sunnah (traditions) of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), and that the experience is both spiritually uplifting and logistically hassle-free for families.

What is Aqeeqah?
Aqeeqah is an Islamic tradition performed for a newborn child, typically on the seventh day after birth, although it can be done later if needed. It involves offering a sacrifice, usually a sheep or goat, to Allah (ﷻ) as an act of thanks and gratitude for the child’s safe arrival. The meat from the sacrifice is distributed to family, friends, and the needy, ensuring that the community shares in the joy and blessings of the newborn.
The Aqeeqah is also an important way of asking Allah to protect the child, grant them a prosperous life, and keep them under His guidance and care. The practice is deeply rooted in the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), who encouraged the performing of Aqeeqah to celebrate the arrival of a new life.
Why Perform Aqeeqah?
The practice of Aqeeqah is not only a way to show gratitude to Allah for the precious gift of a child but also serves as a means of protecting the child from harm and evil influences. The sacrifice of the animal symbolizes the submission to Allah’s will and is a beautiful way of giving back to those around you by sharing the blessings with others.
Additionally, Aqeeqah is an opportunity to unite family and friends in celebration, creating a sense of community and joy for the newborn’s arrival. By performing Aqeeqah, parents are following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and fulfilling a cherished Islamic tradition that brings immense rewards.
