About Our Institution
Islam in East Orange Since 1981
As Salaamu Alaykum. Welcome to the Islamic Center of America! We are honored to have you with us. Our center serves as a place of worship, community, and learning. Here we strive to foster a deep understanding of Islam, promote unity, and provide a welcoming environment for all. Whether you are here to pray, learn, or engage with others, we are committed to supporting your spiritual and personal growth.
Our Mission & Vision
The mission of the Islamic Center of America is to provide the facilities and the means, to the best of its ability, that will allow Muslims, regardless of race, gender, or nationality, to worship Allaah alone without ascribing partners in worship with Him. By learning, practicing, and calling to pure Islam all together in unity, without partisanship or division, this mission is realized.
The Center was founded by a group of Muslims, who voluntarily embraced Islam. The primary concern, as we believe to be the case for most Muslims in America, whether they embraced Islam or immigrated to this country as Muslims, is to preserve Islam and the Sunnah in their lives and the lives of their offspring. Our vision here at the Islamic Center of America is to let the “Let The Sunnah Go Forth” and not appose it with opnion, blind following or ignorance which invites falsehood or disunity.

Narrated Humaid:
I heard Muawiya bin Abi Sufyan delivering a sermon. He said, “I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, “If Allah wants to do a favor to somebody, He bestows on him, the gift of understanding the Qur’an and Sunna. I am but a distributor, and Allah is the Giver. The state of this nation will remain good till the Hour is established, or till Allah’s Order comes.”
– Sahih al-Bukhari 7312

Our Imam: Abu Muslimah
Imam
Imam Abu Muslimah was introduced to Islam in 1976 by Imam Abdul Wali Muhammad (May Allah have mercy on him), the former Imam of Masjidullah in Plainfield, NJ. Abu Musimah fully accepted Islam in 1978. This pivotal moment came through his deepened relationships with the Haqq family of Bait Quraish, a prominent Muslim group based in Newark, NJ. Their guidance, support, and shared faith played a crucial role in his conversion, leading him to accept Islam and embark on his spiritual journey officially.
